These are the questions our San Antonio office fields most from Alamo City households and businesses planning a move with 1st Priority Movers. Browse our full range of moving services for details on what each job covers. If your question is not here, send it through the free quote form or contact our team — a real person, not a call center, will answer it.

What does a local San Antonio move cost?
You can book hourly or on a flat written rate, and we tell you which fits before you commit. A 2-mover crew is $110/hr and a 3-mover crew is $150/hr, both with a 2-hour minimum, truck, pads, and dollies included. Most customers pick a flat rate: studio or 1BR runs $450–$700, 2BR $900–$1,500, 3BR $1,700–$2,700, and 4BR $2,900–$4,200.
How early should I book in San Antonio?
Two to three weeks is comfortable for most Bexar County moves. Month-end, the first weekend of any month, and the summer PCS season around Joint Base San Antonio fill up fastest. If your date is tight, send it through the quote form anyway — we hold a few crews open for short-notice jobs.
How do you handle the Texas heat?
Summer moves start at dawn so the crew and your furniture beat the afternoon heat. We hydrate the team, pace the load, and protect heat-sensitive pieces. If your move-in stalls, our climate-controlled storage keeps wood, leather, and electronics out of San Antonio heat and humidity at $140–$360/mo by unit size.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. 1st Priority Movers is registered as a Texas household-goods carrier under TxDMV 006789123C and holds USDOT and MC authority for interstate moves, with $1M in cargo coverage on every job. Ask and we will show the paperwork before move day.
What is included in the price?
Every local move includes the truck, fuel, furniture pads, dollies, shrink wrap, and basic disassembly and reassembly of beds and standard furniture. There is no travel-time padding or fuel surcharge added at the end — the flat number we write down is the number you pay.
Do you do military PCS moves?
Yes. We move families to and from Lackland, Randolph, and Fort Sam Houston regularly and know the GBL and flat-rate paperwork those relocations involve. Tell us your report date on the quote form and we will build the schedule around it.
Can you handle Hill Country and gated-community moves?
Yes. We move into Boerne, New Braunfels, The Dominion, and Stone Oak all the time, including the longer drives and limestone custom homes. Many gated HOAs require a Certificate of Insurance before the truck enters — mention the community and we will have ours ready in advance.
Can you handle a long-distance move out of San Antonio?
Yes. Long-distance moves run on a binding written quote tied to your inventory and the two ZIP codes, not a number that creeps up later. Whether you are headed to Austin, Houston, Dallas, or El Paso, the same 1st Priority crew loads and delivers, and the $1M cargo coverage travels with your shipment.
Do you move pianos and other specialty items?
Yes — pianos have their own line: roughly $250–$450 for an upright and $450–$800 for a baby grand, handled with proper boards and straps. We also move gun safes, appliances, fitness equipment, and oversized art. Flag any specialty piece on the quote form so we send the right crew and gear.
Are you a moving company or a broker?
Yes, we are a moving company — 1st Priority Movers is a licensed, insured San Antonio mover running our own trucks and W-2 crews. We are not a broker, marketplace, or moving company, and your job is never handed to an outside carrier. The uniformed movers at your door are our employees.

Why San Antonio Books 1st Priority Movers

From King William porches to Stone Oak cul-de-sacs and the Loop 1604 corridor, a crew that knows the Alamo City block by block.

Dawn Loadouts Beat the Heat

When the South Texas thermometer pushes past 100, a move can’t wait for noon. Our crew rolls up to your San Antonio home at first light and parks your wood and electronics in climate-controlled storage so nothing warps in the heat across Bexar County and the greater Alamo City metro.

Top-Rated TX Crews

Every mover at your door is on the 1st Priority Movers payroll: full-time, background-checked, W-2, and trained the way Ruben runs San Antonio — never day labor pulled off a board. That is how we hold a 5-star rating on Google and Yelp.

One Flat Written Rate

Your figure is set on paper before the first box leaves your San Antonio door, and it holds even when Loop 410 jams or the job runs long. Longer hauls out I-10 or I-35 come back as a binding written total — nothing tacked on at delivery.

No Brokers, No Handoffs

Every truck at a San Antonio curb wears the 1st Priority Movers name, and each mover on it draws a W-2 paycheck. Your load is never handed to an outside carrier — one San Antonio company packs it, drives it, and carries it in.

Fully Insured, $1M Cargo

We run as a registered Texas mover — TxDMV 006789123C in-state, with USDOT/MC authority across state lines. A $1 million cargo policy backs every San Antonio job, no exceptions.

On Time Across the Metro

A two-hour arrival window and a call when the truck leaves the yard. We route around the US-281 and I-35 crawl and the Loop 1604 build-out so your closing date holds.

Packing & Supplies Included

Pack the whole house or just the rooms that worry you. Cartons, pads, dollies, and shrink film ride on the truck before the crew leaves the yard, so wrapping starts the moment we step into your San Antonio place.

Specialty Moves Handled

Pianos, gun safes, and oversized pieces get the right boards, straps, and a crew chief who has eased them down tight King William staircases and through gated Dominion entrances before.

Your Easy San Antonio Move

A flat written rate, then loading, then unloading at your new San Antonio address — three steps, start to finish.

1

Tell Us About Your Move

Send over the basics, including any piano, safe, or oversized piece, and Ruben’s office prices it as one clear flat San Antonio figure — no fine print, no guessing.

2

We Wrap & Protect

The crew rolls up at dawn, pads and shrink-wraps every piece before the afternoon heat sets in, and shoulders all the heavy lifting and stairs.

3

Move to Your New Home

We drive it across the metro or out along I-10 and I-35, unload box by box into the right rooms, and reassemble the furniture. Welcome home!
